Connection

Together, but separate.

Never alone, yet always lonely.

                Always present, but invisible.

One day, eyes open.

Glimpses emerge.

Light glimmers.

Details, both old and new, noticed.

Sight returns.

Attachments reform.

Relationships rebuild.

Connection requires intention.

  1. Gotta love Brene Brown! I love your noun/verb sentences. I'm thinking there is a lot more behind the meaning than just some great two word combinations.

  2. What you accomplished here with your intentional word play is nothing less than extraordinary. The two-word sentence is one of my all time favorite craft moves, and you built a masterpiece. Of course the quote at the end amplifies the essence of what you conveyed through your poetry, and as much as I adore Brené Brown's scholarship and storytelling, I think your words were even more powerful. This was beautiful, Mallory.

    Deep. Honest. Compelling.

  3. The spirit of renewal in lines 8-10 give your poem a sense of quiet optimism.
